Working under the direction of the Sr. Director of Accounting and Finance, the General Ledger Accountant coordinates the daily activities of the accounting team to ensure that accounting processes are performed timely, accurately, efficiently, and within deadlines. Responsible for ensuring adherence to a strict month end financial close calendar. Performs transactional processing in addition to ad hoc project duties, with a particular emphasis on controls including: General Ledger account reconciliation, Prepayments/Accrual reconciliation, Fixed Assets Management and maintenance, Controls, Validation and Review, Balance Sheet Review, P&L Analysis, Closing/ month end tasks.

What is your mission?

You will provide the best service to our partner brands by performing these tasks:

  • GL Account Management: Maintain general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and ensure proper general ledger coding. Reviews general ledger and perform reconciliation monthly to ensure timeliness and accuracy of posting. Coordinates monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities and produces ad hoc financial reports as necessary.
  • Monthly Close Processes: Participates in and support the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded and validated, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation, cash application, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, invoicing and reconciliations, accounts receivable transactions, fixed asset activity, credit card recon, customer rebate, commission calculation etc.)
  • Process Improvement/Reconciliations: Makes and implements recommendations to improve accounting processes and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes. Perform reconciliation for Balance sheet accounts related to Bank Reconciliation, Fixed Assets, Pcard and other accounts as assigned and ensure completeness and accuracy of the information in adherence with standard accounting principles. 
  • Collaboration & Projects: Participate in strategic financial projects including upgrades, automation and streamlining of processes with continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices. Interacts at all levels and with other senior stakeholders to produce timely, efficient and accurate month-end close and all internal management and financial reporting. Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and ensure compliance of all accounting processes to that of the organization’s goals with strong focus on controls.

  • Requires fluency in English with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent sales and customer service (internal and external) skills with proven negotiation skills.
  • Thorough understanding of directly related department owned functions, principles and strategies.
  • Proven ability to compile, analyze, and communicate data.
  • Thorough knowledge of field related laws and regulations (Finance, HR, Legal).
  • Experience in effective collaboration with all levels of management and staff in a diverse, global environment. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Must be proficient in the MS Office Suite of software.
  • Proven ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills to include, delegation, employee development and lead by example.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IFRS accounting standards.
  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent is a plus.
  • Minimum Education Required (or equivalent directly related professional experience):  4 Years/Bachelors
  • Minimum years of directly related professional experience required: Mid/3-8 Years
  • Travel: Able to physically travel via airplane to domestic and international locations as needed to support the business.
