We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Designer to produce 2D/3D designs, develop complex assemblies, and support calculations for dust collection systems, ducting, conveyors, and mechanical equipment layouts. You’ll create fabrication-ready deliverables, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure compliance with project standards while supporting industrial and mining design work.

What is your mission?

You will provide the best service to our partner brands by performing these tasks:

  • Produce accurate 2D GA drawings, fabrication details, and as-builts in AutoCAD following project and site standards.
  • Develop 3D models and fabrication drawings in Autodesk Inventor for dust collection systems, ducting, conveyors, pump skids, piping, and steelwork.
  • Perform duct sizing, airflow and pressure-drop calculations, and equipment selection for dust collector systems.
  • Prepare drafting and design deliverables for mechanical and dust extraction components.
  • Coordinate regularly with the Design Manager and stakeholders to monitor progress and resolve design issues.
  • Ensure all designs meet project requirements, client specs, QA procedures, and preferably AS/NZS standards.
  • Support model coordination and clash checks using Navisworks as needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and documentation of drafting/design workflows.

Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related mechanical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of mechanical design experience in mining, heavy industrial, or plant engineering environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (complex assemblies, sheet metal, flat patterns, fabrication models).
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D for layouts, GAs, details, and fabrication drawings.
  • Hands-on experience in ducting design, dust extraction systems, conveyor structures, and mechanical equipment layouts.
  • Ability to perform fan/pump/pressure analysis and engineering calculations.
  • Solid understanding of steel fabrication methods, installation practices, and mechanical–structural interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of Navisworks for coordination and clash detection.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk data or converter tools and experience with Autodesk Vault is an advantage.
  • Exposure to AS/NZS standards, HVAC principles, or dust collector system design is beneficial.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple work packages.
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced engineering environment.
