We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused SQL Database Administrator to oversee the health, security, and performance of our SQL Server databases. In this role, you’ll ensure data integrity, high availability, and security, and will manage user access and troubleshoot issues in mission-critical environments. As a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders, this position requires expert English proficiency and a proactive approach to minimizing downtime and optimizing database performance.

What is your mission? 

You will provide the best service to our partner brands by performing these tasks:

Database Management & Administration

  • Manage, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Ensure databases are highly available and optimized for performance and scalability.
  • Oversee database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.

Customer Interaction & Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding database-related inquiries and issues.
  • Provide clear, professional communication in English, addressing customer concerns, updates, or troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and tailor database solutions to meet specific requirements.

Access Management

  • Create, manage, and monitor user access controls, roles, and permissions for proper authorization and data privacy.
  • Implement and enforce security policies in alignment with compliance requirements.
  • Regularly audit user access and permissions for compliance with company policies.

Security & Compliance

  • Design, implement, and manage database security protocols, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOX).
  • Protect sensitive data through encryption, masking, and other security measures.
  • Monitor for unauthorized access or security breaches, taking immediate action as needed.

Incident Management & Outages

  • Proactively monitor databases to detect and address potential performance issues or failures.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for database outages, ensuring quick resolution and minimal downtime.
  • Implement disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) solutions like backups, replication, and clustering.

Backup & Recovery

  • Develop and manage backup, restore, and recovery strategies to ensure minimal data loss.
  • Conduct regular testing of backups and recovery plans to confirm business continuity.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on database architecture, configurations, processes, and access policies.
  • Provide regular reporting on database health, performance, and security compliance to stakeholders and customers.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., developers, system administrators, IT staff) to optimize database performance and security.
  • Mentor and guide junior DBAs or other staff as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including customers and executive leadership.

 
Who are we looking for?

  • Minimum of 5+ years as a Database Administrator, with at least 2 years focused on SQL Server.
  • Proficiency in managing SQL Server 2016, 2019, and Azure SQL databases.
  • Strong knowledge of database security practices and access control mechanisms.
  • Experience with database performance tuning, index management, and query optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions (e.g., Always On, clustering, replication).
  • Familiarity with database monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Redgate, or others).
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to clearly explain technical details and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven experience interacting with clients or customers in a professional capacity.
  • Strong understanding of database encryption, data masking, and security compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for resolving database outages, performance issues, and security incidents.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, MCSE: Data Management and Analytics, or equivalent.
  • Experience with cloud database management, especially in hybrid or cloud-native environments (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
  • Knowledge of automation and scripting (PowerShell, T-SQL) for database administration tasks.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and processes in database management.
